Dear Me 2012

Saw this idea on another blog and immediately loved it.  It's a way to document everything you've learned from the situations you've been faced with over the previous year.  If I could go back and tell myself anything, here's what it would be.

Dear Me in January: It's okay.  Time will heal everything, and each day will get easier.  Never forget the memories, but stay positive.  Don't rush back into things, but pick back up.  Everything will be okay.

Dear Me in March: Just when it seems like things are finally picking back up, the fall apart again.  But remember, it's always darkest before the sun comes up.  Everything will be okay.  Just like you've overcome everything thus far, you will overcome this, too.  Stay strong, it gets better.

Dear Me in May: Stay motivated.  It's almost summer.  Don't give up yet.  Everything counts until the final bell on the last day.  Keep you head in the game for exams and don't "YOLO" it.  Trust me, you'll regret this.

Dear Me in June: Things may be a little different this summer, but that's okay.  Make the most of it nonetheless, because it will be over before you know it.

Dear Me in August: School is going to start whether you like it or not, so stop complaining about it.  It's never as bad as you think, and it will halfway over before you know it.  You are going to learn so much this year, so keep an open mind and think before you turn down opportunities.  Don't consider giving up, because you'll be happy you didn't.  Oh, and just because you got away with procrastinating once doesn't mean this will work all year.  You're going to have to do it anyway, so you might as well do it sometime other than midnight the night before it's due.  Stress isn't good for you, and you need sleep.

Dear Me in September: Isn't it funny how people change?  Stay true to yourself and don't forget who's really important.  People will come and go, but true friends will always stick around.  Never doubt this.  It may seem like they are moving on, but they will always be there when you need them.  Always remember this.

Dear Me in October: Always remember to keep taking chances and be open to new things.  Don't get sidetracked in the negative mindset, because it's never as bad as you think it is.  People will surprise you how much they care about you, and solid foundations don't just crumple overnight.  You can always pull up those grades with a little motivation, and nothing is ever as bad as it seems.  You have come so far, and it's okay to be proud of the progress you have made.  Just don't forget to remain thankful for everything and always remember how truly blessed you are.

Well, there it is.  2012 is almost over, even though it seems like it started last month.  I've learned so much, made so many new friends, and am one step closer to figuring out just who I want to be and what I want to do in life.  I've learned that you don't always have to be absolutely positive something will work out before you try it, and that keeping an open mind is one of the best paths to success.  It's been a great year, and I'm more than ready for an amazing November & December to tie it up :)
