'Merica Monday

Hey y'all!  Today's post is going to be a little bit different.  I'm not going to talk about Lilly Pulitzer or warm, sunny weather or even monograms (okay, no promises on that last one!).  Instead, I'm going to talk about something with meaning.

As easy as it is go get caught up in the stress of a Monday, it's important that we take some time to reflect upon how truly great we have it in the United States of America.  I wake up on Monday mornings, feeling tired after seven hours of sleep in a comfortable bed, and immediately begin to dread the school day ahead.  I think it's pretty fair to assume that the vast majority of y'all do the same thing.  What we fail to realize, however, is that what we consider a hassle is actually a huge privilege.  There are so many selfless men and women making so many sacrifices in order for us to be able to wake up and attend school without a worry in the world.  They don't necessarily get to sleep for a decent amount of time, and don't have the luxury of falling asleep in their own beds every night.

Our freedom, which we so easily take for granted, comes at a cost.  Some people wake up in the morning and enjoy this freedom, but others wake up in the morning and defend it.   This is the home of the free because of the brave.  This is our land, and we have so many to thank for keeping it that way.

It's time to realize how good we have it.  It's time to express this gratitude and be thankful for the lives that we have.  Being a US citizen is one of the greatest privileges there is, and it's time to stop taking that for granted.  We live in the greatest nation on Earth, and it's time to start letting that shine through us.  'Merica, love it or leave it!

  1. This post made me happy. I am so thankful for all of the people making it awesome for me to live here. Being a military girlfriend I know how much it stinks for them to be away from home. THREE CHEERS FOR AMERICA!

    Love Always,
